Steve Jobs Is Dead, age 56

Steve Jobs is dead. The Apple chairman and former CEO who made personal computers, smartphones, tablets, and digital animation mass-market products passed away today. We’re going to miss him. Deeply, and personally.

Steven P. Jobs passed away on October 5, 2011 after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was just 56 years old. We mourn his passing, and wish his family the very best.

Our world will be less interesting, less exciting, and less meaningful without him.

Goodbye, Mr. Jobs. We will miss you so very much.

Shane Warne confirmed his engagement to model Elizabeth Hurley

SHANE Warne all but confirmed his engagement to model Elizabeth Hurley on Twitter as friends told the Kidsolo News the couple were preparing to become husband and wife.

“Thanks for all your congratulations. Here’s a pic of us about to go to Dunhill dinner in St. Andrews,” Warne tweeted late Saturday night.

The UK press was sent into a spin with reports Warne popped the question at a function at the Old Course Hotel in St. Andrews, Scotland, on Thursday night.

However, a close friend of Warne told the Sunday Herald Sun the engagement took place weeks ago.

The couple did not hide their affection for each other on the golf course at St. Andrews, where Warne competed in a celebrity pro-am.

The cricket legend arrived back in the UK early last week after spending time in New York City with Hurley, where she is filming the TV series “Gossip Girl.”

THE doctor accused of killing Michael Jackson desperately tried to get back into the star’s mansion after he died, a jury heard yesterday.

Jackson’s personal assistant Michael Amir Williams revealed that Dr Conrad Murray approached him in a hallway of UCLA hospital just moments after the singer had been pronounced dead.

He told the court: “We were making small talk about how horrible it was.

“He said that there was some cream in Michael’s room that he wouldn’t want the world to know about and he requested that I or someone else give him a ride back to the house to get it.”

But Williams refused – and lied that the police had taken his car keys. He said he also privately warned Jackson’s bodyguard Faheem Muhammed, saying: “We can’t let him in the house.”

Earlier Williams described the scenes of chaos as he arrived at the hospital with Jackson’s distraught children Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket.

“I was worried about the kids,” he said. “I shielded them, one by one and took them inside. There were cameras everywhere.

“One of the hospital staff took us to a room and from there I went right to where Mr Jackson was, where he was being held with doctors working on him.”

On the second day of the trial at LA’s Supreme Court, Williams said he first became aware there was a problem when Dr Murray rang him, frantically asking him to come to Jackson’s home.

Murray told him the singer had suffered a “bad reaction” and that immediate help was needed. But Williams told the court the doctor did not ask him to call 911.

Williams said Murray had called him on his mobile at 12.13pm and left a voice message, which was played to the court. Murray was heard pleading: “Call me right away – please, call me right away, thank you.” Williams told the court: “I called back at 12.15pm. Murray told me to get to the house because Mr Jackson had suffered a bad reaction.”

Williams then called the star’s bodyguard Faheem, and told him to get over to the mansion.

A CONDOM that a two-year-old girl found at a McDonald’s playground and began chewing was filled with ice-cream and left by a group of schoolgirls.

On Saturday, a father was eating lunch at the fast-food chain’s Geraldton restaurant in Western Australia’s mid-west when his daughter came out of the playground with what was supposedly a used condom in her mouth.

But a McDonald’s spokeswoman said a group of local schoolgirls have come forward and admitted they played a prank by planting the condom filled with ice cream in the cubby house.

”The students have apologised, expressing remorse for their actions and the distress caused to the family involved,” she said.

”While this was a very careless prank that has caused unnecessary concern, we appreciate the girls coming forward and won’t be taking the matter further.”

The father said earlier in the week that other parents ”grabbed their kids and just about jumped the fence” when his daughter appeared with the condom.

The man said he washed the girl’s hands and mouth with soap and would continue to monitor her health.

He said he was “absolutely disgusted” to find his child chewing on what appeared to be a used condom.

When he had showed the condom to a junior manager at the McDonald’s outlet, he said he was informed it was the second one found in the playground that day.

McDonald’s launched an investigation into the incident, with a spokeswoman saying the company was treating the matter “very seriously”.

Cleanliness and safety were the company’s top priorities, with the shift manager required to make half-hourly duty checks on all areas of the restaurant, including the dining room, rest rooms and playground, she said.

Kindle Fire tablet set to challenge iPad

With a glossy 7-inch colour touch screen and a dual-core processor, the Kindle Fire, a new mobile device introduced by Amazon, sure looks like a tablet, and one not so different from the Apple iPad.

But Jeffrey Bezos, Amazon’s founder and chief executive, has another word for it.

“I think of it as a service,” he said in an interview on Wednesday after the launch. “Part of the Kindle Fire is of course the hardware, but really, it’s the software, the content; it’s the seamless integration of those things.”

Amazon is counting on the its online warehouse of more than 18 million e-books, songs, movies and television shows, as well as access to a selection of Android applications, to help it beat competitors like the iPad and the Nook from the bookstore chain Barnes & Noble. Previous Kindles were only e-book readers with black-and-white screens.

The access to content is important as Amazon transforms its business into a digital retailer and responds to consumer demands for mobile devices, lest it winds up in a retail graveyard like Borders, a former peer.

Saudi King Revokes Lashing Sentence Against Woman for Driving

Saudi King Abdullah revoked a sentence of 10 lashes against a woman who broke a ban on women driving in the kingdom, a Saudi princess said yesterday on her Twitter account.

“Thank God, the lashing of Sheima is cancelled,” Princess Amira al-Taweel, wife of billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, wrote on Twitter. “Thanks to our beloved King. I’m sure all Saudi women will be so happy, I know I am.”

Sheima Jastaniah was sentenced earlier this week to 10 lashes by a court in Jeddah.

Scarlett Johansson Nude Photos Leaked

On Wednesday, the world marveled at photos of Scarlett Johansson’s un-clothed body, which were reportedly stolen from her hacked iPhone. Alas, at her lawyer’s request, we had to take them down. But since you’re here, perhaps you’d be interested in hearing the backstory?

Scarlett Johansson nude photos were leaked onto the Net yesterday morning and all hell promptly broke loose.

Back on March 20th of this year, “Stupid Rumors” reported that up to 50 Hollywood celebrities had been victims of a professional group of hackers. In the article, you can see a blurrier version of Johansson’s mirror photo.

At the time, the group reported that they weren’t in it “for the money” but for the thrill.

Fast forward to yesterday, September 14th. Depending on what time stamp code they’re using, either Phun or Reddit posted the photos first. It is unclear how either user procured these photos and Reddit public inquiries led to no answers.

At around 7am EST, Buzzfeed picked up the story (Link now sans nudity due to a DMCA from Johansson’s lawyers) and was quickly followed by gossip sites large and small, blogging platforms and major media outlets.

As the shots grew more viral, Johansson refused to comment on whether the photos were her or not but did contact the FBI over the incident which in and of itself was pretty damning evidence.

Later, the FBI confirmed that they “…[are] investigating a series of computer intrusions targeting high-profile figures,” but would not confirm if Scarlett was part of that investigation.

But then we got the best confirmation of all: The following takedown notice from Scarlett’s lawyers. Which makes the FBI story all the more believable — where will the story end?
