Noah's Ark Found on Turkish Mountaintop?
group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say wooden remains they have discovered on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey are the remains of Noah’s Ark.
The group claims that carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old, meaning they date to around the same time the ark was said to be afloat. Mt. Ararat has long been suspected as the final resting place of the craft by evangelicals and literalists hoping to validate biblical stories.

Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah’s Ark Ministries International research team that made the discovery, said: “It’s not 100 percent that it is Noah’s Ark, but we think it is 99.9 percent that this is it.”
There have been several reported discoveries of the remains of Noah’s Ark over the years, most notably a find by archaeologist Ron Wyatt in 1987. At the time, the Turkish government officially declared a national park around his find, a boat-shaped object stretched across the mountains of Ararat.
Nevertheless, the evangelical ministry remains convinced that the current find is in fact more likely to be the actual artifact, calling upon Dutch Ark researcher Gerrit Aalten to verify its legitimacy.
“The significance of this find is that for the first time in history the discovery of Noah’s Ark is well documented and revealed to the worldwide community,” Aalten said at a press conference announcing the find. Citing the many details that match historical accounts of the Ark, he believes it to be a legitimate archaeological discovery.
“There’s a tremendous amount of solid evidence that the structure found on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey is the legendary Ark of Noah,” said Aalten.
Representatives of Noah’s Ark Ministries said the structure contained several compartments, some with wooden beams, that they believe were used to house animals. The group of evangelical archaeologists ruled out an established human settlement on the grounds none have ever been found above 11,000 feet in the vicinity, Yeung said.
During the press conference, team member Panda Lee described visiting the site. “In October 2008, I climbed the mountain with the Turkish team. At an elevation of more than 4,000 meters, I saw a structure built with plank-like timber. Each plank was about 8 inches wide. I could see tenons, proof of ancient construction predating the use of metal nails.”
We walked about 100 meters to another site. I could see broken wood fragments embedded in a glacier, and some 20 meters long. I surveyed the landscape and found that the wooden structure was permanently covered by ice and volcanic rocks.”
Local Turkish officials will ask the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site can be protected while a major archaeological dig is conducted.
The biblical story says that God decided to flood the Earth after seeing how corrupt it was. He then told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.
After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a mountain. Many believe that Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is where the ark and her inhabitants ran aground.

Good afternoon, I would like to say thank you for an interesting website about a subject I have had an interest in for long periods now.I have been lurking and examining the posts avidly so i would like to express my thanks for providing me with some very good reading material. I look forward to more, and taking a more active role in the discussions here, whilst learning too!!
a) How could a menial ark house two of each animal in the world? That would amount to hundreds of billions of animals. Inconceivable.
b) The brash conclusions that the debris are remnants of Noah’s Ark have basically no scientific validity. The story itself has no historical evidence.
c) Bollocks, Bollocks, Bollocks. Hypocrisy and Bollocks everywhere a Christian doth tread.
you do realise how ridiculous this actually is?
One ark for literally millions and millions of animals. If you believe this you have to be retarded. Why is it that someone finds remains of an ark and think that it must be the foolish story of noahs ark? why couldnt it just be any ark that someone made back then? This is what it seems to be, oh heres an ark, its dated almost 4000 years ago…must be Noahs Ark! yaayyyy! im 99.9 percent sure its Noahs!
Your an idiot, play a record.
Walker:
Let me start by stating that I am not claiming that this find is “the ark.” Even if it could be proven, I doubt that anyone who is a non-beliver would ever admit it anyways. However, you claim that anyone who thinks that this is “the ark” is “retarded.” First, your use of that term is offensive. Second, you discount this probability by stating, “why couldnt it just be any ark that someone made back then?” I will tell you why. It is absurd to think that anyone with an ounce of commonsense would build an ark of this magnitude and size 11,000 feet up a mountain (especially over 4,000 years ago) How are you going to get that thing to any plausible watersource from that height with primitive technology? What is the point? Maybe you should think about yout hypothesis before you make an absurd statement. While you are quick to dismiss biblical plausibilities, I bet you are the same type of person who wholeheartedly believes in UFOs and aliens. Where is any evidence of that?
I agree with walker. I do not know if it is Noah’s Ark. But knowing is a different thing than believing…..AND I AM PROUD TO SAY I BELIEVE
First of all… it wasn’t two of every species, it was two of every KIND. Two cats (later, lions, kittens, cougars), two horses (later donkeys, zebras), etc.
If you want to make up biblical fallacies, you should at least read the book.
So many today don’t want to believe because they don’t want to believe there can be an end of what we now consider to be life as it will always be. I hope it is Noah’s Ark. We know it happened. Why not accept that the Bible is the history of the world (the Earth). We are lucky to experience any and all of the unusual events of the past and the present.
Faith is a wonderful thing. We know Noah ark is real for the Spirit tell us so.
Truth will set you free. Never be ashamed of the Truth. We have Spiritual parents who gave birth to our Spirits. That Truth is in us and we can not deny it. I guess we can lie against ourselves but then we would be living a lie. You
can leave it but you can not leave it alone.
Wonderful article! I appreciate good writing and this is just that; really good writing. You kept me interested from the first sentence to the last and I agree completely on each point you’ve made here.
